Silke and Michael

Please join us for our wedding celebration on

Boy Meets Girl

Our story began on a beautiful, yet chilly winter morning in 2010 when Michael strolled in late to Physics 102, after braving the elements on the long walk from Harnwell to the DRL. He came prepared with a laptop and a smile 😎, but luckily, he didn't have a pen. After scanning the room, he found Silke, and used his suave nature and winning personality to coax her out of her backup. (In reality, she just felt bad for him, and was nice enough to lend him one 😅 ). This was followed by many long walks through the Penn medical campus (which may or may not be classified as mild stalking), random Chipotle and Sitar meals, and lengthy G-chat conversations, all of which would lay the foundation for our relationship.

Together, we've traveled to new countries ✈, flown thousands of miles to see each other for weekend getaways, boogied to some salsa and bachata 💃, shared a few hundred pints of Ben & Jerry's ice-cream 🍦(seriously, we should be part of their marketing campaign!), quarantined during a global pandemic, bought a house, and have had multiple disagreements on how to best represent events on our shared Google calendar...I think Silke's going to win that argument 😂

11 years after our first friend date on April 8th 2010, we're still the best of friends, and we wanted to share our day with all the people who have supported us along the way. We look forward to seeing you there! 🤗

✈ Getting To & Around Philly!

Flying In?
For our guests flying in, you can catch a flight into the Philadelphia International Airport (airport code PHL).

Getting Around
If you decide to come to Philly early or stay a while after the wedding, it's pretty easy to get around the city via Uber/Lyft or just walking. Keep in mind that Uber/Lyft are readily available in the city, but it may get pricey if you're ride-sharing to and from the wedding location.

Getting to the Venue

The wedding venue is about 30 minutes outside of the city without traffic, but about an hour with traffic (likely given the day and time of the wedding). With that in mind, it would be best to rent a car or carpool for the day of the wedding if you're staying in the city.

Where To Stay

There are many great Airbnb and hotel options in the city depending on your preferences, but for those who'd prefer to stay closer to the venue, we've gotten a discount for our guests at the Normandy Farms Hotel. It is approximately a 20 minute drive from the ceremony at Morris Arboretum and is also the location for the reception.

You can make a reservation for the event directly with Normandy Farm reservations at (215) 616-8500 or on the Normandy Farms Website. On the website click Book Your Stay. Once the new page appears, click on Add Code, then select Group Attendee, and enter the Group Code COAPR8. The code is only valid for April 7th through 10th (we extended it in case you want to make your trip a mini vacation, but the weding is only on the 8th).

Regarding safety and joining digitally

The safety and well-being of our guests is our utmost concern, which is why we decided on having an entirely outdoor ceremony (weather permitting) and tented reception. Additionally, we will be providing masks to our guests at the venue. If you are not feeling well for any reason, please do stay home and we will celebrate with you another time 😊.

With that said, we do understand that this is a difficult time for everyone, and while we hope things will look much better in April, we understand that people may not feel comfortable attending. As much as we'd love to have you, we completely understand if you're unable to make it 🙂 . If you have RSVP'd and decide later that you will not be able to attend, please let us know as soon as possible by emailing us at silkhael@gmail.com.

** The ceremony will be streamed live for those unable to attend, but still wanting to join. The link for the livestream will be sent out closer to the time of the event to all our guests who won't be physically joining us. =]
